One workspace for the whole company: why we built Roost

TellParrot governs the record for estates with hundreds of sources. Smaller organisations have the same problem in miniature: a website builder, a form tool, a newsletter, a membership system and a shop, each with its own list of the same people. Roost puts them on one record.

TellParrot exists for estates with hundreds of sources, where the record has to be mastered, governed and proven. Smaller organisations have exactly the same problem, in miniature. A website builder holds the enquiries. A form tool holds the sign-ups. A newsletter service holds the list. A membership system holds the members, a ticketing service holds the events, a shop holds the orders, and an inbox holds the conversations. Each one has its own copy of the same people, and none of them agree.

Roost is what we built for that problem.

One record, every module a switch

Roost puts the website, customers, forms, inbox, campaigns, memberships and shop in one place, on one customer record. Every module is a switch: turn on what the organisation needs and leave the rest off. The record underneath is governed by TellParrot, so the discipline that serves an enterprise estate serves a club, a school, a trade business or a charity without the enterprise price of admission.

What is in it

A website built from typed blocks, or imported from an existing site. Forms that land on the person who filled them in. Events with tickets, a door list, silent and live auctions, and numbered raffles. Appeals with supporter pages and monthly giving. Memberships with renewals and a grace period. A member portal. Receipts that print without a sign-in. Secure conversations with families and clients. A social planner that schedules posts to Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, with an evergreen queue so the pages never go quiet.

Who it is for

Trades and home services, where an enquiry becomes a quote, a job and an invoice paid online. Clubs and associations, with members, renewals and the calendar. Schools and community groups, with programmes, consent and a shop. Professional services, with clients, follow-ups and the newsletter. Franchises and multi-site groups, where head office sees every site and each site sees its own. Charities and foundations, with supporters, appeals and funders.

Honest about maturity

Some of Roost's modules are in Labs, with a date on each. A workspace can switch a lab on early or wait for the date. We label them that way for the same reason TellParrot labels the Fabric roadmap exactly: an organisation choosing a system for its people deserves to know what is finished.

The connection back

Every organisation on Roost is, underneath, a governed record set. That is the point. The same golden record, the same evidence, the same refusal to change anything silently, at whatever size the organisation happens to be.
